Brian Tighe 4″ Custom Tighe Fighter Prototype Carbon Fiber Damasteel San Mai

The Tighe Fighter Flipper from Canadian custom knife maker Brian Tighe is his answer to the call for a modern, tactical folder. The contoured handle fills the hand and thanks to the full Carbon Fiber construction keeps the weight at 4.5 ounces while retaining a beefy 3/16″ thick blade! This Prototype model sports a Damasteel pocket clip, Lightening Strike Carbon Fiber inlays and a San Mai blade with Damasteel over an RWL34 core! This is a truly unique piece for any collection. The blade is marked with the Brian Tighe Signature logo on the front and “Prototype #2 on the back. Brand New, directly from Brian Tighe.

The Blade: A mid-height hollow ground blade provides excellent slicing performance with a nearly full length swedge for balance, aesthetics and a very fine point. The San Mai construction of the blade gives the best of both worlds: Damasteel cladding looks fantastic and is tough and corrosion resistant while the RWL34 core is going to deliver enhance cutting performance while being easy to maintain. The blade deploys via the index flipper or dual thumb studs. Silky smooth operation is provided via Brian’s ceramic ball bearings STBS (Sealed Thrust Bearings) system. 

The Handle: 3D machined carbon fiber is used for the entire handle, with the exception of the black G10 backspacer, while the use of a button lock mechanism means that no liners are needed reducing the weight considerably. Lightning strike carbon fiber inlays add contrast to the handles while flowing with the overall look. The handle is well-balanced with finger grooves that lock the knife into your hand. Stepped texturing throughout enhances the grip as well. 

The new Tighe Fighter is a modern tactical design with a dramatic and sophisticated look that will have you looking its way more than once. A large lanyard window cut out at the bottom of the G10 backspacer and a right hand, tip-up Damasteel pocket clip with ceramic tension ball provide secure options for carry and use. About San Mai:A San Mai is a Japanese technique that typically refers to a blade with a hardened steel core with either iron or stainless forming a jacket on both sides. In the case of this blade we have Damasteel forming the outer layers with RWL34 forming the core. This combination provides exceptional cutting performance with enhanced toughness and corrosion resistance as well as a very striking look.
