Chuck Hawes Custom Vintage Westinghouse Micarta Small Remington Burl Pattern Damascus Blade

The Chuck Hawes Custom Small Remington is a classic slip joint design made in the traditional fashion. Beautiful, Vintage Westinghouse Micarta handle scales are flush fit to Damascus bolsters over stainless steel liners. The handles house a razor sharp, hand forged Burl pattern Damascus blade and file-worked Damascus back spring.

Blade: Hawes hand forged Damascus combines 160 layers of 1095 and L6 high carbon steels creating a unique Burl pattern. The Remington-style drop point blade is opened with single nail nick and comes with a razor sharp convex grind. The forward swedge and file work along the spine adds a custom feel. The blade opens with a pronounced half stop with strong Damascus back spring construction.

Handle: Vintage Westinghouse Micarta handle scales are attached to stainless steel liners and flush fit to Damascus steel bolsters for a striking yet classic look. A full length Damascus back spring rounds out the handle construction and is embellished with the same file work found on the spine of the blade.

Hawes Burl Damascus: A high quality, carbon steel Damascus, Chuck Hawes’s custom Damascus is a folded, pattern welded steel made from simple 1095 high carbon steel and L6 band saw blade material. The steels are forge welded, folded and acid etched to achieve a unique layered pattern. Cutting performance will be similar to the carbon steels mentioned above. Care is required to prevent corrosion.
